The Promises of Christ for Comfort & Healing

Promise 8 Forgive, and you will be forgiven.   

Luke 6: 37

Holy Jesus, Spirit of Mercy,

            In the past, other people have hurt me and while I say I forgive them, I do not forget the injury. I have hurt others and while I am told I am forgiven, I cannot forgive myself and so live with the guilt and shame these memories bring.

If I cannot forgive others, how can I ask to be forgiven. If I cannot be merciful to others, how can I expect to receive mercy. Jesus, as You were dying, You said, “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.” Teach me to forgive. Forgiveness is a forgetting of the past and the remembering only of the good.

Holy Jesus, teach me to forgive.
