Everything that you can ever imagine, that you want to be, you already are.
You are the Imperishable Self that has always been, that you will always be.
Beyond birth, beyond death, beyond experiences,
Beyond doubts, beyond opinions.
Beyond whatever it is your body is going through,
Whatever thoughts your mind thinks.

You are beyond that.
You are the Silence,
The Silence of the Heart.

adamsRobert Adams (1928—1997) was an American mystic who is part of the Advaita Vedanta (Non-duality) tradition. In early years he traveled to India and was a student of Ramana Maharshi. He never held seminars or intensives, nor charged for his teachings. More information on his life can be read at www.robertadamssite.com.

Robert Adams wrote a book titled Silence of the Heart. I’ve read it several times and each time experienced a deeper level of understanding. His method of inquiry is the “Who am I?” question. In my reading of him, he is simple, quiet, profound, kind and compassionate. The excerpt above is a synopsis of his mystical experience. Our origin is in the great silence, the unmanifest, the great presence, the Tao.
